Oh boy. I’d have to say Skyline (2010). I can’t really explain why I like it, so there it is.

Pretty much anything with spaceships in it would fulfill this requirement for me.

How about EXACTLY 50% audience score with a 24% critics score
? Anti-trust is NOT a perfect movie, but it’s actually good. Unfortunately, the brilliant marketing people billed it as an action movie because in 2001, executives still couldn’t wrap their tiny heads around the “it’s cool to be a nerd” thing.

This entire challenge seems to have been collectively taken on by RT ever since they added audience scores. It’s pretty funny.

It is hard. Most of the questionable movies I like are in the 70% range. The closest I can get is Battle: Los Angeles which I wouldn’t say I “genuinely like” but it gives me a certain nostalgia for the old time war movies I watched as a kid so I find it watchable . That’s at 36%.

This is really hard when you (a) don’t have cable and (b) often use RT as a source for what to watch. I sort of miss “mindless viewing” but it’s saved me a ton of time.
Easy answer for me is
Wonder Park
, which I watched with the kids last night. 34%

As someone who likes scifi and spaceships, I feel quite confident that Valerian earned those low scores, if anything they might be high.

I think Super (2010) is the best I’ve got. It may seem a borderline pick (49% critics / 55% audience, and dangerously close to violating rule
#1
), but I think
what pushes this one squarely into an
Unpopular Opinion is that I liked it better than Kick-Ass
(76%
/
81%
).

Rush Hour 3: Stupid cheese of the highest order with slightly less racism than the other movies . It’s the perfect movie for those weekend afternoons when you’re channel surfing through the middle channels and land on USA or TBS.

Same! I actually think it’s a good movie, it’s just that people constantly compare it to the tv show or feel like it should be a one on one repredentation of the tv show, which it is not.

I like a lot of stuff many people hate.
I enjoyed Jupiter Ascending even though it wasn’t technically a particularly good film. I had hoped for a sequel of sorts but it was a flop in the box office.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/jupiter_ascending_2014/
27% Rating, 38% audience.
I also like the original Judge Dredd more than the new one (I don’t hate the new one) https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/judge_dredd/
17% Rating, 30% audience
I have more, but I should get back to work

Its not the best but I was entertained. I remember seeing it didnt do too well in the box office and I was disappointed for the movie. I saw it in theaters (almost solely) because the directer also did The Fifth Element.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/fantastic_beasts_the_crimes_of_grindelwald
Mostly Sci-fi and fantasy stuff for me.
I have a thing with movies though where I almost need to finish a movie even if I can absolutely tell where it’s going and it’s garbage .
A.X.L. is the first movie I can remember where I literally was thinking, “Why the hell am I still watching this?”...the only reason I finished it is because I was on a plane and had nothing better to do anyways.
![]() 08/06/2019 at 14:47 |

I thought this was decent, but I also happen to think Jodie Foster embiggens whatever movie she’s in. Certainly better than its 38% RT score, I mean, how is this worse than Nacho Libre and tied with Crazy People?
![]() 08/06/2019 at 14:54 |

I feel like the reason this is hard is because its easier to universally agree on what a bad movie is than it is to agree on a good one. Bad movies are usually bad for a reason so the like li hood of finding people who like a bad movie in spite of its badness (be it script, story, technically or direction) is harder than it is to disagree with a movie that is generally liked simply because you can choose from any one thing about the movie you don’t like - Usually story, or characters instead of technical.
i.e. A movie can be good and you can just not dig the premise, versus a movie that has a lot of things that aren’t going its way that you just somehow like in spite of its many glaring flaws.
TLDR: bad movies are harder to love than good movies are to hate.

Act of Valor scores 26% on RT, but I love how realistic it is. From the site itself:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
They hired actual Navy Seals to perform, so the small scenes of acting and dialogue fall short of Oscar winning, but the accuracy of their practice makes up for it. You don’t see a random barrage of explosions, or other action movie cliche’s that you see in other movies.

The live-action Hong Kong version of Initial D (2005).
Widely regarded as a terrible movie, particularly among Initial D fans. But I like it. It was the first version of Initial D that I was exposed to, and it got me hooked on the franchise.
More than a few liberties were taken with the storytelling, as well as the story itself. But it’s an interesting alternative take that I still find value in.
Edit: I just looked it up on RT, and the audience score is actually much higher than I expected. Huh. I usually see people expressing a much lower opinion of the film.
